The Full Story
Hi, I’m Jonell—a dog mom, storyteller, and someone who knows what it feels like to grow up feeling a little different.
My hope is that Mo & Milo offers kids (and grown-ups!) a gentle reminder that who they are is more than enough. Whether your child is neurodivergent, deeply sensitive, wildly spirited, or just figuring it all out—these stories are for them. And for you.
We’re so glad you’re here.

About Me
I started writing Mo & Milo in 2025, but honestly, it had been living in my heart for much longer. Inspired by my two real-life pups (yep, their names are really Mo and Milo), these stories reflect so much more than bath time chaos or backyard bake-offs—they carry pieces of my own story.
Mo’s cautious nature, love of planning, and deep emotional world remind me of what I was like as a kid. I didn’t know I was neurodivergent back then—I just knew I felt things bigger, needed more structure, and was always trying to figure out how to “be like everyone else.” Now, as an adult who embraces my neurodivergence, I write for the kids who feel like that too.
My writing style is whimsical and heartfelt, often rooted in real moments where I felt confused, overwhelmed, or had to learn something the hard way. But always, always with room for laughter and cuddles.
The Real Mo + Milo
Mo is the big-sister type—clever, composed, and precise. Her favorite toy is Greeny, a floppy green stuffy bigger than she is. Milo, the lovable whirlwind, prefers a black teddy bear named Bear and tends to leap before he looks. Together, they play, push, and balance each other in ways that are hilariously true to life—and metaphorically, a pretty perfect picture of what it’s like to be human, too.
